Does hair gel cause hair loss?

ive been using the same type of hair gel for about 2 years and nothing happened until a few weeks ago. i was taking a shower and i noticed i had a few hairs on my hand and a lot fell off. it hasnt stopped falling off since then and now i'm kinda worried. i dont notice any bald spots on my hair but i'm scared that hair is falling off. is this caused by my hair gel? and is there a way to fix it? thanks!Does hair gel cause hair loss?
well u should stop using gel; those are like late reaction cause;

gel can make your hair dry; well that's it; maybe u have dry scalp and your hair scalp can't hold your hair since u've been using gel;

trying using a different gel; or try moisturizing shampoo sp even when u use gel his won't cause u dry scalp.Does hair gel cause hair loss?
you're welcome (:

thanks for choosing me:]

No, gel doesn't cause hair loss. You will loose up to 100 hairs a day or more. Stress can cause hair loss as well as medications. If you start to see your hair falling out in clumps then you should see your doctor and that there is more to your hair loss. Hope this helps.
yea hair gel can effect your hair because of the chemicals .

i too lost lot of hair when i used hair styling spray.

i had to discontinue in order to prevent it
It could be from the alcohol in the gel.

Gel contains alcohol %26amp; alcohol really dries out your hair which is probably causing hair loss.

I would give your hair a break and wear your hair natural for a while.
it could be.or it may be the shampoo.,im kno tht shampoo causes hair loss but idk bout gel
maybe cuz i use gel and some hair falls off but it is normall i think :?

Does Using Hair Gel Cause Hair Loss?

My hair has started dropping even though I am only in my mid-20s....My Dad reckons it is because I use hair gel...He says that when he was my age the same thing happened to him and it was due to his use of hair gel.....

2 questions:

Does using gel cause hair loss?

What should I replace hair gel with: hair cream, hair wax etc?Does Using Hair Gel Cause Hair Loss?
actually it does. hair gel is like the worst thing your head will bear. i mean i was putting gel to look good for like 4-6 years. now when my hair get a little tall the left side has a chunk of hair missin. it never grows back. i havent used gel for like 2 years now. and its better. because now im not bald on one side of my head. what ever you do. stop using gel now while you still have all of your hair. i hope i helped. oh ya and the only reason hair gel is thich is because they use like pigs white stuff thats on bacon and ham before you even cook it. i mean can you believe youve been putting pig slime on your hair. nastyDoes Using Hair Gel Cause Hair Loss?

normally dye cause more harm than gel, but still, you shouldn't take it for granted.

Apply gel at the hair not near to the root will do.

If not, when you suffer hair loss, you will have to consult the following website for help.Does hair gel cause hair loss?
I hope not. My teenage sons use it ... and askmen.com claim: There are no hair-care products that cause hair loss. You may sculpt your locks with as much gel, mousse or spray as you desire. I hope so, but then I'm not so sure either?Does hair gel cause hair loss?

actually it promotes hair growth. seriously.
hair gel is bad for you cause it is made out of petroleum and it produces friction which cause thinning of the hair and killing the hair root that cause baldness i learned that from chemistry my teacher told me hahahaha
I don't think so...been using it for years.... baldness is genetics.
    Don't think so.

My brother uses hair gel a lot because he cares about his hair a lot.

Depends on what type of hair gel you use or how much you put.

Too much and gels that have damaging chemicals probably causes hair lost.

No, good commercial-grade hair gels will not cause hair loss.
Well, I'm in Figure/Synchronized Skating, and so when a competition pops up, which is to say every other week, I have to slick back my hair completely so that it is rock hard. But if you are just talking about curling your hair with gel, well, I do that a lot too, and I can tell you I still get plenty of people telling me that I have a head full of hair, as I have always had thick hair my whole life! It's never done anything to me, but maybe if you have thinner hair, then your hair is weaker, so if your are constantly pulling it back and gelling it, it might make your hair weaker, so that it falls out. It really all depends on your hair type! Maybe you are thinking of sew-in hair extentions, which have been proven DO make your hair fall out so that you will become bald in certain patches? But hair gel doesnt make your hair fall out, it just makes it dryer, and can make dandruff worse, and give you a dry scalp, but only very mildly. If you hardly ever use it, like maybe 2-3 times a month/every 3 weeks, it won't harm you.
Firstly, Hair Gel dosent directly cause hair loss. Hair drys and damages ur hair, which ';Can'; cause some hairfall, but not due to scalp problems. Due to brittle hair, hair breakage.

You shudnt apply oil on wet hair. Its bad for ur scalp. I dont know if that will result on dandruff or not, but i know it will clogg ur pores in the scalp and ur scalp wont be able to breath. so you might get a lotta hair problems due to that.

I guarantee you, you won't regret it!
Baldness or hair loss is usually something only adults need to worry about. But in a few cases, teens lose their hair, too 鈥?and it may be a sign that something's going on.

Hair loss during adolescence can mean a person may be sick or just not eating right. Some medications or medical treatments, like chemotherapy treatment for cancer, also cause hair loss. People can even lose their hair if they wear a hairstyle that pulls on the hair for a long time, such as braids.

Losing hair can be stressful during a time when you're already concerned about appearance. Most of the time, hair loss during the teen years is temporary. With temporary hair loss, the hair usually grows back after the problem that causes it is corrected.

    Hair Basics

Our hair is made of a type of protein called keratin. A single hair consists of a hair shaft (the part that shows), a root below the skin, and a follicle, from which the hair root grows. At the lower end of the follicle is the hair bulb, where the hair's color pigment, or melanin, is produced.

Most people lose about 50 to 100 head hairs a day. These hairs are replaced 鈥?they grow back in the same follicle on your head. This amount of hair loss is totally normal and no cause for worry. If you're losing more than that, though, something might be wrong.

heathIf you have hair loss and don't know what's causing it, talk to your doctor. A doctor can determine why the hair is falling out and suggest a treatment that will correct the underlying problem, if necessary.

    What Causes Hair Loss?

Here are some of the things that can cause hair loss in teens:

    * Illnesses or medical conditions. Endocrine (hormonal) conditions, such as uncontrolled diabetes or thyroid disease, can interfere with hair production and cause hair loss. People with lupus can also lose hair. The hormone imbalance that occurs in polycystic ovary syndrome can cause hair loss in teen girls as well as adult women.

    * Medications. Some medications that have hair loss as a side effect may be prescribed for teens. These include acne medicines like isotretinoin, and lithium, which is used to treat bipolar disorder. Diet pills that contain amphetamines also can cause hair loss. Chemotherapy drugs for cancer are probably the most well-known medications that cause hair loss

    * Alopecia areata. This skin disease causes hair loss on the scalp and sometimes elsewhere on the body. It affects 1.7% of the population, including more than 5 million people in the United States. Alopecia areata (pronounced: al-uh-pee-shuh air-ee-ah-tuh) is thought to be an autoimmune disease, in which the hair follicles are damaged by a person's own immune system. (In autoimmune diseases, the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells, tissues, and organs in a person's body.) Alopecia areata usually starts as one or more small, round bald patches on the scalp. These can get bigger, and in a small number of cases, can progress to total hair loss. Both guys and girls can get it, and it often begins in childhood. The hair usually grows back within a year, but not always. Sometimes people with alopecia areata lose their hair again.

    * Trichotillomania (pronounced: trik-o-til-uh-may-nee-uh). Trichotillomania is a psychological disorder in which people repeatedly pull their hair out, often leaving bald patches. It results in areas of baldness and damaged hairs of different lengths. People with trichotillomania usually need professional help from a therapist or other mental health professional before they are able to stop pulling their hair out.

    * Hair treatments and styling. Having your hair chemically treated, such as getting your hair colored, bleached, straightened, or permed, can cause damage that may make the hair break off or fall out temporarily. Another type of baldness that results from hair styling actually can be permanent: Wearing hair pulled so tightly that it places tension on the scalp can result in a condition called traction alopecia. Traction alopecia can be permanent if the style is worn for a long enough time that it damages the hair follicles.

    * Poor nutrition. Poor eating can contribute to hair loss. This is why some people with eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia lose their hair: The body isn't getting enough protein, vitamins, and minerals to sustain hair growth. Some teens who are vegetarians also lose their hair if they don't get enough protein from non-meat sources. And some athletes are at higher risk for hair loss because they may be more likely to develop iron-deficiency anemia.

    * Disruption of the hair growth cycle. Some major events can alter the hair's growth cycle temporarily. For example, delivering a baby, having surgery, or going through a traumatic event can temporarily cause shedding of large amounts of hair. Because the hair we see on our heads has actually taken months to grow, a person might not notice any disruption of the hair growth cycle until months afte
no stress is what makes your jair fall out and it makes your hair go grey
That's just a myth. Hair products usually aren't necessarily good for your hair, but it's not going to make your hair fall out. Hair loss can be heriditary, and I wouldn't worry about using gel at all.

Hair gel does not affect in anyway. It stay on the outside of the hair shaft which means it can cause it no harm . An hair loss no it dosent cause that either. Well happy styling ..Do hair gels cause hair loss, or is this a myth?

myth. too much might cause breakage, but not hair loss. just wash the stuff out.
that is a myth all hair gels hardens your hair and it can give you dead end
alot of people with thin hair have used hair gel for long periods of time. Additionally; Hats and head coverings contribute to hair loss. It has more to do with the scalp than the hair shaft.

    am i just thinking it??

tell me if gel in your hair leads to hair loss or male baldness.Does putting gel in your hair for males cause loss of hair and male badness?
there r many reasons coz hair loss and many products for hair loss that ';can cure hair loss'; in internet, the best way is visit your doctor and you will spend lots of money.

Some tips and precautions u can use rigt away:

    * Eat foods with reduced fat, low carbs, and high proteins.

    * Eat foods like soybean, fish, chicken, and liver.

    * Make sure that you stay away from harmful hair chemicals.

    * Holding enough rest, away from electromagnetic wave.

I searched a free ebook(u can get it with doing nothing) maybe can help u,get it on:http://www.hairlossstopnow.com,this sites also sell a ';cure hair loss product'; seems to be ture,it has some reviews of the hair loss product and offers 2 bottles free

u can have a try of all above methods, good luck! Does putting gel in your hair for males cause loss of hair and male badness?
Been on minoxidil ( R0gaine庐 ) for about a year and a half and have not seen even the smallest amount of regrowth that i almost fell into depression.

My hair only started visibly growing on the balding spot after attempting the various natural techniques to re-grow lost hair for about 1 week plus @ http://www.regrowmyhair.info

I would highly recommend the website easy to follow step-by-step informative guide with pictures to anyone who is suffering from hair loss right now. But remember this isn't a miracle cure for baldness as you will also need to put in some effort in order to see results. And its only a minimum commitment of 15 minutes a day to help re-grow your lost hair. ( Sorry that I can't share the various natural techniques taught as i might be sued for copyright violation )

I am also convinced that a natural approach is a much more safer way of re-growing lost hair compared to those unnatural ways which may involve harsh chemicals that may have serious side effects.

These are the side effects of some common drugs for hair loss treatment :

Minoxidil : Cause a fall in blood pressure, an increase in the heart rate, and weight gain (fluid retention)

Propecia : May cause birth defects in male baby's sex organs if taken by women. Also, potentially irreversible side effects occurring in the group of people taking the drug are erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorder (decreased volume of ejaculate) and low libido.

Baldness can be hereditary but it could also be caused by too much stress. Stress raises the levels of toxins in the human body causing hair damage or baldness, tooth decay, acne, among other things. Cheap hair gel, or hair gel that gets your hair as hard as cement can cause breakage but not baldness.
Baldness in only hereditary. So if your mom's side of the family, your grandfather is bald, or if your father is bald, then you might inherit that. As far as gel is concern, see what kind of chemicals it has. normally, gel won't do that unless you are using a brand with unnatural chemicals.
The only thing that causes male baldness is genetics/ heredity. If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen. No stopping it. If it's not, nothing will ';cause'; it. Enjoy your hair while you have enough to put gel into.
hair gels are very drying to the hair. i don't think that it can cause permanent baldness in males. that is usually cased by genetics
Not not really it just hereditary from grand parents and parents!Has nothing to so with baldness!

most of hair lose is genetic, but there are thing you can do to slow the process. Take a vitamin that works, and get good shampoo. It sounds stupid but almost all the shampoo on the market contain tons of chemicals most have the same chemical compound as engin degreeser. DHT as you get older will cause your hair to fall out faster. Saw Palmetto fights DHT that will cause hair loss to slow or stop.

The website below sells shampoo and conditioner with Saw Palmetto, called Botanical Vitamin shampoo and conditioner. If you are using t-gel you probably have scapl issues, this shampoo also helps with that, more than any other shampoo that I have used before.

This is the site below to check out the shampoo and conditioner under Body Care Essentials

Any products that cause minimum hair loss ?Which Hair Gel/Product Doesnt Cause Hair Loss ?
If i was you i would change from gel to wax, its much better for your hair it should help you outWhich Hair Gel/Product Doesnt Cause Hair Loss ?
Hi! hair gels and hair spray can damage your hair to some degree. To stop this type of damage being inflicted on your hair, do switch to better quality hair care products. In fact, if you can afford salon quality styling stuff, that would be very ideal because many salons choose only the best hair care products for their clientele to produce the best hair care results.

You can try to reduce using styling devices and use more natural products like Almond oil or Aloe Vera gel for styling, these are 100% natural and will not harm your hair at all and may help to reverse hair loss.
try hair oil; it really works! put it on at nite before bed and wake up and shampoo it off. usually coconut hair oil works the best but try others to suit ur hair

Dont even worry about it, thats an old wives tale that hair gel causes hair loss. But you should definitely try to use a better quality gel than whats sold at drugstores/supermakrets . Anyway, no you can't loose your hair from gel - unless you've got some freaking allergy to it.
I have seen no case studies or scientific data to back this suggestion up. I would definitely say that it doesn't. I frequently use hair gel and I have a pretty thick head of hair.

    Does gel cause hair loss?

    yes! it can!

year ago my husband suffered from hair loss too and he started trying everything you can imagine to stop his hair loss. the things that really worked for him was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

    5) also he used herbal treatment - TrichoZed

It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for him!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.com/?id=fc7a24

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

    good luck!

not only my and my husband`s own personal experienceDoes gel cause hair loss?
Sure, any gel...whatever it is will cause hair loss. I have used many types of high end gels also, nothing was good on hair. They will definitely cause hair fall. You can take care of not applying gel to the roots of the hair.So that, at least you can minimize the effect.Be careful while gelling your hair.Actually gels cause hair loss only just we are forcing the hair to take some other shape or form which was not of its natural style. So forcing hair to go opposite to its natural form will surely cause hair fall.Does gel cause hair loss?
Here a few simple home remedies which can be tried at home to control hair fall.

1.Rinse your hair with a mix of apple cider vinegar and sage tea this helps hair grow..

    2. A medicine rich in sulfur is also recommended as sulfur plays an important part in the structure of the hair.

    3. Massage with olive oil before going to bed at night and next morning, wash off the hair gently..

    4. To treat hair loss apply a little lemon juice with some black tea.Massage well and shampoo.

    5. Beat two eggs, and add two tablespoons of water to it. Rinse hair and pour the egg mixture over the hair.Massage the scalp well and leave for 10 minutes. Then wash it.
    Yes.

There's a lot to answer here. Hair loss can be a scary thing, don't panic just yet. :)

First off-ANY sort of product build up-if it is there a long time and particularly thick can affect hair loss. Hair gel, hair spray, waxes and even cheap shampoos and conditioners can cause product build up.

You can continue to use gel, but you need to use a CLARIFYING shampoo at least once a week to get a good hair and scalp cleanse.

2nd your hair genetics will not come from your dad's side. To see if you are likely to loose your hair you need to look at your Mother's Father(your grandpa on your mom's side). If HE lost his hair early then you are more likely(but more likely isn't the same as DEFINITELY so there's still hope).

3rd if you're really worried there are products out there that can help but please remember everyone looses hair. Hair goes through stages. Stress and diet can be a factor too.

If you're really worried go see your doctor to rule out medical reasons. Otherwise just try to keep it clean-use that clarifier once a week at least, eat right and take it a day at a time.

Does Using Hair Gel Cause Hair Loss?
If your dad said he had hair issues around your age, than YOUR hair loss issues may be hereditary. However, hair gels that contain alcohol DO dry out hair which makes it more susceptible to breakage and brittleness..

Use aloe vera gel...it moisturizes hair, is healthy for hair, and because it is in a gel like form...should give you the exact same results as normal gel.
It depends on how often you use hair gel if you use it everyday then yes your hair will break of because the get is holding you hair to together and is blocking air from getting in and letting you hair breath. If you use hair gel every once in a while or evey other day or week then you should be fine.
If use of hair gel causes hair to fall out I should be bald as I've been using it for the past 25 years!

Could try wax as this is the next best thing, just make sure you rub it into your hands well before you apply as you always need less than you think.
It could if you use way too much of it. Same goes to conditioners and shampoos. They all have chemicals in them and if you use too much of it could result to hair loss.
Some types of gel may do that, but genetics rule in this....

However you might stop hair loss or speed down by using special shampoos or treatments
my grandfather used bryl cream till his dieing day and he had a shocking amount of hair but i think its proberly just in the genes

    sorry for your loss dude
I use hair gel all the time and I have never lost hair because of it.

There is a strong possibility that the line in your hair is either your hairline or calic (I think thats the right word). Calics are natural and a lot of people have them and they show up like hairlines and can be either wide or skinny.

I was just talking to one of my Sons about this a couple of hours ago. We came to the conclusion that yes it does cause hair loss. DOES HAIR GEL CAUSE HAIR LOSS ?

So i have been using for a long time and i know i have noticed when i go through my hair with my hand i see come hair in my hand

i use Garnier Fructis Hair Gel is that any good???DOES HAIR GEL CAUSE HAIR LOSS ?
yes! it is possible! that can happen!!

anyway as we know - hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections, hormonal problems, to mention a few.

year ago my husband suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and he started trying everything you can imagine to stop his hair loss. the things that really worked for him was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice (you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

    5) also he used herbal treatment - TrichoZed (do not use Rogaine - it will not work!)

It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for him!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.info/ingredients.ph鈥?/a>

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

    good luck!

Most gels, and holding spray, are made with some form of alcohol in it, and alcohol dries your hair out. It could be a factor in your hair coming out in your hands. Read the ingredients in it, and try and find something that does not have alcohol in it.
Personally, I've heard that gel period is bad for your hair. I've witnessed it with my friend. It took out her edges. I stopped using all types of gel. You should try using mousse or jam.

DOSE HAIR GEL CAUSE HAiR LOSS?

im 18 and my dad said when im older i'll get bald , because of hair gelDOSE HAIR GEL CAUSE HAiR LOSS?
If u use a lot of gel, and don't wash it out, YES IT CAN CAUSE HAIR LOSS. If you wash it out everyday then you should be okay. If is dries and flakes in you hair, then it contains a lot of alcohol, which can dry out your scalp, and lead to hair loss. So be careful, and wash that stuff out. And look for alcohol free gels is you can, or try professional lines like Sebastian, they are really lite and don't leave a lot of residue.DOSE HAIR GEL CAUSE HAiR LOSS?
no....some hair loss is natural and in some ppl hair loss is genetic
    yeah.
yeah coz its better not 2 use chemical in hair lyk gel ,hair spray etc.but we r so much consious abt our style than anythin so wash it off after using it
no he's probably just saying that to mess with you..the only bad thing about hair gel is that it general contains dimethelcone...which is essentially alcohol which can dry out your hair and isn't good for your scalp.....also male pattern baldness runs in your mom's side so if her dad has a great head of hair your probably fine...
i highly doubt you will go bald, you might loose a few strands of hair when applying. Nothing to buy a wig about.

Can using gel really cause hair loss?

Can using gel really cause / contribute to hair loss? Or is it purely hereditary? Ive been told two different things so if someone could confirm whether gel does or doesnt cause hair loss that'd be great as I worry about using gel these days. ThanksCan using gel really cause hair loss?
YES....unless you use alchohol free hair gel cause its the alchohol that messes up your hair. Then again don't come hunt me down when you're an old bald man cause my advice was faulty LOLCan using gel really cause hair loss?
it irritates your scalp which can stop or slow down hair growth, so it CAN cause it to fall out more than normal, if you use it everyday and dont have healthy hair in the first place.

if you eat a balanced diet theres pretty much no need to worry about it though

    :)
uh ,i know alot of people who use gel , i think thats a bunch of bull, someone might have said that to scare you, if you do yank on your hair to hard while using gel then it'll come out.
If you are using a gel with high levels of alcohol over time it can dry you hair out and cause some damage to you hair resulting in some hair loss. However, it 's not going to make you go bald....lol
Yeah, there are chemicals in most hair products that are not good for anyone.

A wise man once said, if you won't put it 'in' your mouth, then don't put it 'on' your body.
I think it would. %26amp;%26amp; it is also bad for your hair! you might not be able to see it, but it can cause build up on your scalp and yeah thats disgusting!
i have never heard of gel causing hair loss, %26amp; it is hereditary
I don't know why it would. It's probably purely genetics.

i know you should avoid ones with alcohol, but it seems like ALL of them have a denatured kind in them

btw, im posting in lgbt cause i love the section, answers here are always good :)Can everyday use of hair gel cause early hair loss?
no ! i think is hereditary!

gels don't make you loose your hair only look better!

or try not to use too much chemicals on your hair!

i know hair dyes ruin your hair! Can everyday use of hair gel cause early hair loss?
I have no idea. I would have to say probably a little. When I was younger I use hair gel ALOT. I mean ALOT, like a whole grip of it on my hair lol, at 21, I started to loose hair.

One day my sister bought a weird shampoo and conditioner from a store and while using them, I looked at my hands and down in the showers and saw hair everywhere, my hairs are falling like crazy. I think it's the shampoo and conditioner and front that point, some of my hairs never grew back:( :(((

I really don't know if gel causes hair loss but I think it might contribute a little to it since some of them contains alcohol and they usually make your hair very dried and brittle and that can destroy the hair fiber and damage hair follicles.

There are many things that can cause hair loss, genetic, hair products, medicines, illness, stress, ect.
Yes it can. In fact all hair products, gel, mousse, hairspray, dye, etc. can have direct effects on hair loss. I have several friends in the cosmetology industry and even though it is not in their best interest to give out this kind of information, because they sell these products in their salons, they have all told me that these kinds of hair products can contribute to hair loss. I was experiencing some hair loss myself several years ago and that is what made me ask them in the first place. I was surprised to find out about it and I stopped using hair products like these immediately. I stopped seeing hair loss, so I am sure that I did the right thing.
I'm not so sure about hair gel but putting any sort of chemical in your hair really isn't good for it. All those curling/straightening mousses all damage your hair in the long run. And if you have good hair to begin with, it would be a waste if you let it get damaged. My hair is bad as it is. Dry nappy hair. lol and I'm white! I hate it. And I don't put any chemicals in it. It's just bad hair I was born with. If you got good hair, don't mess it up. Be happy!
That sounds more like one of those things one stupid person says then eventually everyone takes it as a fact. It was made for hair so I don't see why they wouldn't make sure it wouldn't harm hair before selling it.

I guess if it has acid it would be bad. But then it wouldn't be gel. It would be nair.
if you overdo it it can suffocate the hair follicles.

    Does using a hair-gel cause hair-loss?

    Hello!

A friend of mine told me the other day that applying hair-gel to your hair may cause hair-loss. Is it true?

Also, he said that oiling your hair immediately after taking a bath causes dandruff in the hair. Is it correct or a myth?

    Thanks for reading this!Does using a hair-gel cause hair-loss?
Firstly, Hair Gel dosent directly cause hair loss. Hair drys and damages ur hair, which ';Can'; cause some hairfall, but not due to scalp problems. Due to brittle hair, hair breakage.

You shudnt apply oil on wet hair. Its bad for ur scalp. I dont know if that will result on dandruff or not, but i know it will clogg ur pores in the scalp and ur scalp wont be able to breath. so you might get a lotta hair problems due to that.Does using a hair-gel cause hair-loss?
your friend is quite right,...don 't use hair gel it contain certain chemicals which decreases the strength of your hair and your hair will fall regularly and ya its also correct that using hair oil just after bath will also cause hair loss.... you can refer to a dermatoligist..........................k
ya using hair gel increases hair fall.... .....

but using oil after bath ll not cause dandruff.... but if u apply oil at night and if u take bath without shampoo it also causes dandruff.......
YES! it does i use 2 wear it when i was a teenager when i use 2 go school but now i lost so much hair itz so embarassing 4 me to go out without my head covered i dont know how 2 cure it. im still regreting why on earth did i use that 'stupid' 'idiot' GEL! AWWWWWWWWWWWWW

    not obviously

it depends upon the quality and type of gel you are using

if you are using cheap quality hair gel or the type of gel which not suits with your hair type then it is quite possible that it cauz hair loss to you

so better consult hair exp art for decide the hair jail you can use to avoid hair loss
Applying oil during wet condition is not advisable.

use branded hair gel to avoid hair loss.
no adding oil to your hair after a bath is a good thing it would stop dandruff who ever said that is an asshole* applying to much gel will cause dry scalp that would lead to hair lost.
No!!! I use L.A. Looks sports gel, and have been using it for like 2 years. EVERY day!! And I wash my hair everynight before I go to bed with head and shoulders shampoo.. I like the dry scalp kind.. Smells the best.. I never have a problem with hair falling out, or dandriff.. My older brother also uses L.A. looks every day.. Never has problems either.. But I say if your goin to use gel, L.A. looks sports gel is the best to use.. Best shampoo to wash it out is Head And Shoulders Dry Scalp care..

if not the which is the best gel to put on hairs?

have you tried brylcreem does it give your hairs wet look?Does hair gel cause hair loss?
yesDoes hair gel cause hair loss?
    yeah
sometimes if you don't use the right one for your type of hair
It shouldn't cause your hair to fall out, but since it has alcohol in it, it could dry your hair out, making it more susceptible to breakage.

Look for gels that have ';alcohol-free'; on the bottle. If you are just doing the spiky thing or using it to shape your hair, there are a lot of hair waxes (try Bead Head brand). I would recommend those over gels.
    does not cause hair loss

    no idea on ';best'; gel
It could if you don't wash it out well

Is it scientifically proven that hair gel can cause hair loss?

I know many cases of people losing their hair after using cheap hair gel. It is not scientifically proven though that hair gel can cause hair loss. If you are still unsure and you want to use hair gel. Buy good quality gels and never let the gel touch the hair roots or your scalp. If you see that you are getting dandruffs then stop using hair gels immediately. Dandruffs sometimes blocks the scalps pores and thus prevent the head from getting sufficient air and this has scientifically been proven that it causes hair lossIs it scientifically proven that hair gel can cause hair loss?

  • Can testosterone replacement therapy, like testosterone gel, cause hair loss?

If you were already genetically predisposed to lose your hair (i.e. if your mom's side has men [%26amp;/or women] with androgenic alopecia), testosterone of any origin (outside the body or naturally produced) can contribute to hair loss. It isn't testosterone itself, but dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which testosterone may convert into. In comparison to injections, testosterone gel has an especially high rate of converting to DHT due to an abundance of DHT converting enzymes (5 alpha reductase) in the skin.

However, hair loss can have multiple hormonal causes (adrenaline, hypothyroidism, etc.) %26amp; non-hormonal causes. Even DHT's role is complicated, as it *may* help the immune system in treating hair follicles on the scalp as foreigners, thereby causing hair loss as an autoimmune response. This is only one mechanism of hair loss. Can testosterone replacement therapy, like testosterone gel, cause hair loss?

Use Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. This can be found at most salons. Its not cheap but how conserned are you about your hair. Gels don't cause baldness. If you rub it down into your scalp and don't clean it for days then you clogged up the pores on your scalp and you wont allow any new hair growth from those pores. A clean scalp will regrow more hair than a dirty scalp. Shampoo DAILY!!

Does Hair Gel Causes Hair loss/boldness?

Hair gel has been known to cause boldness, however. Many guys won't even be seen without it.Does Hair Gel Causes Hair loss/boldness?
It would depend what the hair gel is made from.Does Hair Gel Causes Hair loss/boldness?
No it doesn't really cause hair loss or baldness literally... but if you over use it you can really dry your hair out b/c hair gel contaisn alcohol so it can get dried out and stiff and break off. So yes in a way you can loose a little hair. I suggest not using it all the time, maybe just when you go to work, or school or when you go out. but take a break from it when your at home by yourself or on the weekends maybe. and use a good conditioner on your hair when you shower so you can keep moisture in it
No it doesnt...according to past practicals and theories it makes your hair look nicer so you can get them girls if you are a boy and get them boys if you are a girl...just kidding
